Ali T. Harris, RN, BSN, is the founder of Next Move Care and works as an RN health coach and patient advocate. He helps patients and families face complicated healthcare decisions without carrying the whole plan alone. The work is personal, independent, and grounded in the belief that a life is always larger than a chart.
The person behind the mission
Guidance shaped by nursing and lived experience.
Ali's story begins in Iraq and continues through war, displacement, loss, adaptation, and rebuilding a life in the United States. Nursing became a way to turn those experiences into practical care: listening closely, naming what is unclear, and helping people protect what matters to them.
His work across hospital case management, discharge planning, hospice, serious illness, and healthcare leadership showed him how easily a person can be reduced to diagnoses, deadlines, and instructions. His own experience with fibromyalgia and mental-health challenges deepened his respect for invisible symptoms, uncertainty, stigma, and the effort it takes to ask for help. Lived experience informs his empathy; it never becomes an assumption that another person's story is the same.
Next Move Care is Iraqi-owned, LGBTQ+ owned and operated, bilingual in English and Arabic, and intentionally respectful of partners, chosen families, families of origin, women, transgender and nonbinary people, older adults, disabled people, immigrants, refugees, and people of every background.

Ali has worked in nursing and care transitions since 2016. His experience includes hospital case management and discharge planning, hospice admissions and end-of-life care, home health, acute hemodialysis, emergency care, and intensive care.
Health coach and patient advocate describe Ali's role and services; they are not additional board-certification credentials. Here, health coaching means collaborative goal setting, general health education, habit support, accountability, and help preparing questions within an agreed scope. It does not add authority to diagnose, prescribe, change treatment, provide medical nutrition therapy, make individualized supplement changes, provide physical therapy, or replace a treating clinician.

Movement is also part of Ali's daily life. He has personal-training education and experience and continues an active, daily fitness practice. Next Move Care does not describe Ali as a Certified Personal Trainer and does not use the CPT credential.
Ali holds a Virginia-issued multistate RN license under the Nurse Licensure Compact. A multistate license does not make service automatically available in every state. Before accepting work, Next Move Care confirms where the person receiving support will be physically located during the encounter and the applicable professional, business, home-service, insurance, and local requirements for the exact service. Professional licensure should be independently verified through the Virginia Board of Nursing verification page.

Next Move Care, LLC does not act for a hospital, facility, payer, or hospice during a client engagement and does not accept payment for directing a person to a provider or facility.
Clear professional boundaries
Written authorization, a defined scope, and realistic expectations come before active advocacy. Treating professionals remain responsible for diagnosis, orders, treatment, and direct care.
Independent professional connections, case by case
When a question extends beyond RN-led advocacy, Next Move Care may help a client identify or coordinate with independent professionals whose fields include primary care, cardiology, palliative care, and law. The client selects, contracts with, and pays every outside professional directly. They are not Next Move Care employees, agents, or subcontractors, and private information is not shared without appropriate permission and safeguards. Each professional remains responsible for their own advice, services, licensure, records, insurance, fees, and outcomes.
