Common questions

Understand the service before you call.

Short, direct answers about privacy, fees, communication, timing, and professional boundaries.

Is the first call free?

Yes. The initial 15-minute fit call is free and does not require records. Its purpose is to understand the general concern, identify timing, and determine whether the service is an appropriate fit.

Should I send medical records now?

No. The public website does not accept medical records. If information is needed after the fit call, you will receive instructions for an approved secure method and will be asked only for what is relevant to the agreed work.

Can you speak with the healthcare team?

When the case is accepted and the patient or legally authorized representative provides written permission, Next Move Care may participate in care conferences and authorized communication within the written scope.

Can you stop a discharge or guarantee placement?

No. We cannot control a hospital, payer, facility, clinician, or outcome. We can help identify unresolved concerns, organize questions and deadlines, and clarify who owns the next action.

How quickly will you respond?

Availability varies by case and is confirmed during the fit call. Next Move Care is not a 24/7 or emergency service. For an immediate medical or safety emergency, call 911 or notify the treating team.

Do you serve only LGBTQ+ clients?

No. Next Move Care is LGBTQ+-centered because these communities and chosen families are often overlooked, but adults of every identity and background may inquire within our Virginia scope. Acceptance depends on fit, service area, capacity, conflicts, authority, and scope—not identity. No one is required to disclose an identity to request service.

What does LGBTQ+ and trans-affirming advocacy mean here?

Trans women are women, and Black transgender women are explicitly welcome. We use the name and pronouns a client asks us to use, respect partners and chosen family, avoid assumptions, and ask before sharing identity information within an authorized advocacy scope. Legal decision-making authority still depends on applicable law and documents, and Next Move Care does not provide legal advice or guarantee another organization’s conduct.

How do you support communities you do not personally belong to?

With cultural humility, not claimed expertise. We ask what the person wants, what language or access barriers exist, who they consider family, and what should remain private. Black people; women of every background, including Black transgender women; people with Iraqi, Palestinian, Irish, South African, and other roots; immigrants and refugees; disabled people; and people of every faith or no faith are welcome to inquire. No identity disclosure is required.

Is support available in Arabic?

Yes. Direct advocacy is available in English and Arabic, including Iraqi Arabic, through a fluent bilingual RN. Next Move Care does not advertise certified medical-interpreter services and does not replace a qualified interpreter supplied by a responsible healthcare organization when one is required.

Do you provide home-safety visits, nutrition plans, personal training, medication setup, or hands-on care?

No. Current services are independent advocacy, education, organization, and authorized communication support.

What if the standard fee is not affordable?

A limited number of Supported and Community Access rates are available. You may share what is financially realistic without providing a tax return or bank statement. We can explore a reduced rate, payment plan, focused scope, or free resources.

What happens if an outside provider or service is needed?

You remain free to choose any qualified organization. Next Move Care does not accept referral compensation or add a percentage referral charge. If you ask us to perform research, scheduling, follow-up, or other coordination, that work and its fee must be approved in writing. The outside organization’s own charges remain separate.

Does Next Move Care provide doctors, therapists, aides, pharmacy, DME, palliative care, or hospice?

No. Outside organizations remain responsible for their own licensed services, records, billing, availability, and outcomes.

Is this medical or legal advice?

No. Next Move Care provides advocacy, education, organization, and authorized communication support. It does not diagnose, prescribe, change treatment, practice law, or make clinical, coverage, placement, or eligibility decisions.
